No.  There are *big* differences between Zope 2 and Zope 3.  Porting a
package from Zope 2 to Zope 3 needs lots of changes in most cases.  So
next to Plone there should be lots of other zope-* packages that don't
work with Zope 3.

Wrong.  The python version doesn't really have anything to do with it.
Actually, a bit contrary to the statement quoted above, zope2.9 is
preferrably compiled with python 2.4.3, where 2.4.1 and 2.4.2 and
acceptable.  python2.3 is apparently not acceptable.  Well, that's for
the Zope 2.9.3 tar.gz that I have here; earlier 2.9 releases *might*
be fine with python 2.3; no guarantees from me.

In case you're not confused enough after these numbers:  Zope 2.8 (I
think) and up actually contain their own copy of a Zope 3 version. :)
