Yes, for you it doesn't, pretty much because of the ksh_arrays option I
mentioned in the other mail.

Actually, I wanted @ and double-quotes rather than *, but for the
involved values, it doesn't make a difference. :)

Thanks, I'm pretty sure I found the underlying cause by looking at the
xtrace you provided earlier today. See if my ideas around ksh_arrays
help with the problem (I'm fairly sure they will).
