the scripts are also broken while removing/purging:

0 bzed at think:~/workspace/debian/FrontDesk/NM/wml/newmaint$ sudo dpkg -P wicd

Stopping Network connection manager: wicd.

Stopping it twice does not help... dh_installinit should do the right job in
most cases, don't mess with it if you don't know what you're doing...
