d'oh -- right -- silly me just built master instead of v1.1.0 tag,
where indeed it fails to build.

Nevertheless -- might be a worthwhile endeavor for a wondering soul to
grab git master, and package it together with python3- package for
the experimental.   It would help to 1. prepare upstream release by
finding problems earlier than later; 2. prepare on Debian side for the
upstream release ;-)
