I experienced the same thing. For some reason, if I just hit "Enter" at
the boot prompt, it does that kernel panic thing. However, if I type in
"knoppix lang=us" and *then* hit "Enter", it comes up just fine! So ...
there's nothing wrong with the burn, but there may be some default boot
string missing from the .iso that was there on previous versions. I
don't know enough about the early microseconds of a Knoppix boot to
diagnose this.
