| No dice here.
| I get two different messages ... not sure when I get one and when I get
| the other.
| "No bootable CD ... found"
| "file quantian.iso not found"
Wrong path to quantian.iso in the .vmx file ?
It worked for others on Windows so maybe someone else can help you here.
| quantian.iso is in C:\
| the spelling is OK.
|
| The ubuntu/firefox demo that VMware ships works great. It's really cool.
|
| I was given the offer to change the UID before I got your response. I
| chose "keep". I would try to change it, but it's not asking me again.
Just delete the files created by the player and start again from the intial
.vmx.
| Does this approach offer the possibility of installing Quantian on a VM,
| giving the option of installing or updating software (persistantly)?
I don't think so as you cannot write to a compressed iso file.
That said, you cam boot Quantian and run the install-to-hd script at which
point it becomes an almost normal Linux distro (module the Knoppix mods). I
ran one of those but I haven't upgraded them. This isn't 100% Debian, so
point blank updating risk trampling over some files. It may be possible, of
course. Google for 'Knoppix Debian upgrade' or similar keywords.
| I can't persue this right now ... more later. I'm wondering if I have
| some kind of HD recognition problem. I can't use bootfrom either, if
| you recall. This is a Thinkpad, and it has that hidden partition ...
| but the previous Quantian had no problem. Do you know anything about
| the syntax "ide0.1.fileName=" ? OK... When I get back to this I'll
| start reading the VMware docs. :)
If all else fails read the manual :)

Hell, there are no rules here - we're trying to accomplish something.
