Yes, on the laptop. It says:

Found network device(s) handled by e1000.ko
[and a few others as well]

then DHCP Broadcasting failed, and the loaded modules are listed.

I have tried several other modules in addition to the default ones, but 
it's the same.

I think this laptop has a e1000 network card, so it should work.

Maybe I'll burn a CD with the last Knoppix to see if its works.
