[Quantian-general] network card configuration

Dear Dirk,
Which version of gcc did you use to compile the Quantian Kernel? gcc-3.3 or
gcc-4.0? I've used modinfo e100 to find out the details of the driver, and
found out that the vermagic reads: 2.6.12 SMP preempt 386 gcc-4.0
The kernel version is right, the problem can be with the gcc.
Cheers,
JP

I've posted a message to a Knoppix form as well (http://www.knoppix.net/).
Would suggest any other forum?
Cheers,
JP

Hi JP,

| I did compile the driver in the Quantian (root session) on the same
machine.

Not sure what else to suggest -- did you try the Knoppix forums, eg at
www.knoppix.net ? Quantian 0.7.9.2 is based on Knoppix 4.0.2, maybe you can
find some help there.

Best regards, Dirk

| I've experienced a similar situation in the past when I've compiled the
| drivers with one kernel source and tried to insert the module in another
| distro with a diferent kernel version. I did this some time ago because I
| had sever problems making different distros to recognize my Lan card, a
| Marvell Yukon.
| Did you compile it in Quantian, or in another distro, namely the one you
| have in your HD, if not the same?
|
| Regards.
