Jack,
It is pretty impossible to read your mail because you make too little of an
effort to show what's written by you, and what's quoted.
In any, if and only if the iso file is not corrupted, then
$ qemu -net user -m 256 -cdrom quantian_0.7.9.2.iso
starts Quantian just fine. Being emulated, a boot process takes longer so
wait a few minutes on it. The initial splash screen should come up right
away. I then simply hit return for the default, and the boot proceeds,
slowly, on my one-year old pIV while I continue to do other things. Total
boot time is certainly a few minutes, so do make sure you wait it out.
Older qemu versions used 'qemu -user-net ....' instead of 'qemu -net user'.
For the record, these are the file attributes for the master file I
re-checked here:
edd at joe:/srv/quantian/iso$ ls -l *2*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2858532864 2006-02-26 12:51 quantian_0.7.9.2.iso
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 55 2006-02-26 21:13 quantian_0.7.9.2.iso.md5sum.txt
edd at joe:/srv/quantian/iso$ cat quantian_0.7.9.2.iso.md5sum.txt
e1de6dd965f04f6a939b9c606e6fd0c8 quantian_0.7.9.2.iso
Hope this works for you, Dirk
