Dirk,
sorry about by poor email etiquette; this one should be better.
that qemu line above worked for me too!
what i had used before was my poor attempt using
the qemu man pages
[byers at bootp rh8]$ qemu -net user -m 256 -cdrom Quantian_0.7.9.2.iso
Could not configure '/dev/rtc' to have a 1024 Hz timer. This is not a fatal
error, but for better emulation accuracy either use a 2.6 host Linux kernel
or
type 'echo 1024 > /proc/sys/dev/rtc/max-user-freq' as root.
Could not open '/dev/kqemu' - QEMU acceleration layer not activated
I dont know what that dev/rtc thing is--i am using fc5 with a 2.6 kernel.
I suppose if i get kqemu installed, qemu will go faster.
this is nice; and i can explore quantian with it.
I will probably try to get the kqemu installed before doing much w qemu.
So now I am back to why i cant get the quantian iso
started using the prescription in the lilogrub howto
Since the qemu does bring up quantian,
then my downloaded iso is good.
Harvey replied with some message re devicefile,
i havent figured out yet what he means.
unless somehow that lilogrub method has trouble with scsi drives?
I have the quantian.iso on sdb5
thanks for your help and patience
Jack
