Dirk, thanks for response.
It clears some things up for me.
But
I realize now that my msg didnt also say
that I cannot copy and paste between
a qauntian window and a host(fc5) window

If I had had that capability I wouldnt really need
to be mounting the host partitions..

So, my copy and paste activity in linux
is usually just
select text (in an emacs window say)
with left mouse button
and then move mouse focus toanother window
and use middle mouse button to paste

i cant get that process to work here between
fc5 and quantian, in either direction.
If selecting text in the quantian window
then to get mouse pointer out of quantian win
i have to use that Ctrl-Alt
and that process allows mouse to move to
my fc5 window but there is nothing to paste;
or more accurately it "pastes'" whatever was
in some buffer in the original fc5 window,
not the contents i selected in the quantian window.

Is there some other magic incantation
to get copy, paste working between host, quantian?

thanks
Jack
