[Quantian-general] Migration of processes using shared memory / clone VMs

Hi Everyone,

I'm wondering if there's a simple answer to my problem with running
folding at home on Quantian. I have seen on the openMosix boards about the
possibility of migrating processes that use shared memory by a patch
called migshm. I see that this (or something of a similar name) appeared
as a boot option in Quantian 0.6.9.2 (2.4.27-om-migshm-20040808) -- is
this the answer?

I've tried using this boot command:
migshm bootfrom=/dev/hda2/quantian.iso
(this loads Quantian from an image of the DVD on my hard disk)

But (and I know it says migshm is experimental!) I get some errors
during the boot - first of all when it scans for USB devices there is an
error from modprobe saying that it can't open a dependencies file, then
X doesn't start because "No suitable X-server found for your card".

Neither of these worry me too much since they could be hardware specific
problems to do with my graphics card and USB devices, but it means that
I can't test this migshm option to see if it solves my problem.

Has anyone had success with the migshm option?

Thanks,
Dave
