your answer  above "from hda2 root"  is not consistent with your original
message
which had the grub menu:

>title Quantian kernel 2.6
 > root (hd0,0)
  >kernel /linux26 ramdisk_size=100000 init=/etc/init lang=us
>apm=power-off vga=791 nomce nodma failsafe fromhd=/dev/null
>bootfrom=/dev/hda1/Quantian_0.7.9.2.iso config=scan home=scan
 > initrd /minirt26.gz

this used   bootfrom=/dev/hda1/Qiso

hda1  is your boot partition,
and that bootfrom is trying to find the Qiso in hda1
nothing in that grub menu  says anything about  hda2

can you what you meant by "from hda2 root" ?
