Thanx, Robert, for your insights regarding R. I was interested in R as its
already on my cluster (I hd-installed QUANTIAN in my AP Comupter Science
classroom) and I may be teaching AP Stats in the near future. Also, I thought I
could play with it with my Calc/Physics Computer Lab to do some data analysis
and regressions.

Thanx for the suggestions regarding computer algebra systems, but we already
do that with the TI-89 in a normal math class setting (not the new computer
lab setting I'm planning to add next year).

What I need for Octave and R is a textbook or tutorial that I could teach
myself with and then use in class to teach my students. So links like
_http://courses.statistics.com/software/help.php_
(http://courses.statistics.com/software/help.php) are very helpful, thanx!

Many of my students go on to high powered tech schools and the ivy league.
I thought that expossure to these sorts of apps would be beneficial.

Thanx for your help,
AJG
