   * What led up to the situation?
Reporting a bug in linux kernel.
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?
Used Gtk interface when prompted to choose, went through most of the bug
reporting until it told me it was gathering system information.
   * What was the outcome of this action?
A prompt showed up in the terminal window asking whether it should collect
network settings. The gtk interface hanged until I noticed this and responded
to the terminal.
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
That it would gather system information and make prompts in the GTk interface.
