I've just filed

wildcard version matching in apt-get changelog. That should make
this bug easier to fix.<br>

One problem remains: getting changelogs from sources that the user
doesn't have enabled on his own machine:<br>
<br>
$ apt-get -t unstable changelog smokeping=2.6.11-3<br>
E: The value 'unstable' is invalid for APT::Default-Release as such
a release is not available in the sources<br>
<br>
...the stable changelogs don't help, and the others aren't
available. And no, adding unstable everywhere and pinning is not a
solution as it's too high risk for the average user.<br>
