According to Jose Paulo Moitinho de Almeida <moitinho@civil.ist.utl.pt>:

Sure that is. But I need one and that one looks like a good choice from what
I could get. Having it supported (I mean helping the to have support for it)
would be the cherry on the top.
I myself always make sure that a peripheral is supported under Linux
*BEFORE* purchasing. (VueScan may have support for it once Ed Hamrick gets
his hands on it, but that is not enough).

That is why I was asking, in the case someone was less clueless than am I.
Any way to know wether it is an Avision or not without opening the case.

And what about ROC and ICE ? Are those image enhancer on the scanner side or
are they part of the manufacturer software driver ? I know that ICE require
at least a hardware specific part for the IR scanning... but for the rest ?
Because if it does require complex software, it is unlikely that sane would
have it before long, I may better choose the Scan Dual II which is currently
work in progress and more 300 EUR less.
