XSANE GIMP plugin troubles (was: [sane-devel] XSANE 0.80 compilation problems)

XSane is in menu "File", entry "Acquire".

Does gimp print any messages about problems with xsane on the terminal
you start it from? Usually it complains about plugins it can't start.
