It still works, with 1.0.5 at any rate. If 1.0.6 breaks it I'll let
you know. I think it 'only' weighs around 18kg, shipping weight.

A year or so ago when I bought it it was the cheapest A3 SCSI scanner
that could do 600dpi optical, the only other model for under a grand
being the Epson GT10000(?). Mustek no longer make it but you can still
buy one here:

I am pleased with the results though I have little experience of other
scanners to compare with. The only niggles I have are that the lid
won't stay open on its own and the huge size of it. It uses almost
A1 in desk space. And the 'ready' light never goes on.
I believe there is no ADF for it although it appears to have the
necessary sockets to support one.
After I had had it for a couple of months one of the lamps started
flickering and eventually died. One of its leads had been trapped
during assembly and was shorting out on the chassis. Mustek replaced
it without quibble and had no problem with me swapping it out myself
rather than making me ship the whole monster back to Germany (from
the UK).
In summary it's a good machine from a good company and if you need
the spec for the least dosh it's your only choice.
