brother-mfc project has just been set up on SourceForge.net Project
roadmap includes
SANE back-end for Brother MFC 4600 and possibly other Brother
multifunction devices.

I'll put some info on project website soon. Meanwhile please contact me

if you are interested (especially if you have one of these).
