[sane-devel] USB or SCSI? - Linux/BSD

Since the scanner I'm using presently (Mustek 12000SP) should be
replaced because it has been damaged somehow - we repaired it
by glueing the lense holder in position but cannot say
definitely whether the scanner now still meets factory precision -
I'm considering various options.

Premise is: Maximum speed, lowest price, medium resolution (1200 dpi is ok).
USB are cheap today. What about performance? Driver availablilty under
Unix, BSD, Linux?
