Make sure that you don't have the binary version of sane delivered with 
Mandrake still on your system (e.g. /usr/lib/sane should be empty/not 
existent).

Your scanner should be autodetected if you have the right configuration file 
(snapscan.conf). If you installed from source without any special options 
you'll find it at /usr/local/etc/sane.d/snapscan.conf.

Your configuration file does not look like the one shipped with 
snapscan-20020414. If you had a previous sane installation then the 
configuration is not overwritten during "make install", you'll have to copy 
it manually.

If for some reason autodetection fails you can manually specify "/dev/sg1" as 
device name in the configuration file. However, all SCSI scanners should be 
autodetected without problems, so this would be a bug.
