Stupid error. /dev/sg0 was only read/writable by root. Fixed that and now sanetwain works great. Thanks for everyone's help. Now on to speeding things up. I am not getting ECP/EPP detected from the epst driver. It is only detecting PS/2 style parallel port. I'm pretty sure this scanner is capable of ECP mode. Does anyone know what can be done for this? thanks Jason
