Yes, you can remove it.

As told before configure works out of the box now.
I think it's because the recent autoconf-stuff contains
OS/2-compatibility-patches.... And of course because
of your work. Thanks Henning!

Everything is OK here.

I get binaries with .exe extension because I use the -Zexe flag
in my local config.site ld-flags.

gcc (2.8.1) also generates stub binaries without extension to
keep the makefiles happy.

But I do have to copy the binaries with .exe extension to their
final destination manually. (and delete the stubs)

at this moment 'make install' fails.
