Libtool could be smart and add the .exe either when creating the
executable or when installing it. 

If this doesn't work we could also use the following in the Makefiles:

EXEEXT = @EXEEXT@

and then ass $(EXEEXT) after the filenames of the binaries either in
the linking or installing stage. Looks like it's easier at
installation stage.

Ok, so maybe just adding it to the install stage may work.
