Hi,
is anyone on this list successfully using a plustek parport scanner on a
hardware/software combination similiar to this one ?
-Mainboard Elitegroup K7S5A with 256 MB DDR RAM
-Athlon TB 1GHz
-Plustek Optic Pro 600 P
-SuSE Linux 7.3 / Kernel 2.4.10

I bothered the author of the plustek backend/driver with my questions
already. He told me, that he had to modify the Kernels parport settings and
use the SPP mode in order to get the scanners working on an Athlon machine.
However, those modifications didn't work for me.
In the meantime, I've tried almost everything. I've updated to Kernel 2.4.16
and then to 2.4.17 (from kernel.org), which seems to change nothing :-(
Finally, I've tried it with SuSE 7.0/Kernel 2.2.16, which works fine on an old
P100 system --> same results.
I've also tried various BIOS settings (SPP,ECP,EPP...).
The plustek module gets correctly loaded, and scanning works somehow, but the
results are completely unusable, i.e. there's an extreme color mismatch (it
looks like color channels are randomly missing).
I've also "searched" in the parport-devel archive, to find out whether there
are known problems with this mobo, but couldn't find anything.

If someone on this list has some suggestions, then _*please*_ let me know.

Thanks
Michael

BTW, scanning works with Windoze 95 on the same machine, which bothers me
even more than the fact that it isn't working under linux :-)
