I have the NCR as my external with MESH as the internal. I can use 
the scanner in MacOS as well as other peripherals in MacOS and 
NetBSD (like a SyQuest drive I still have). So both buses seem OK 
for me as well, in MacOS anyway.

So does that mean you have moved to a 2.4 kernel and all is well?
