Hi,

There is now a framework for providing translations of the options
titles and descriptions as well as their values (texts) in CVS.
Have a look at the po/ directory and especially po/README.

These translations are installed (as e.g. sane-umax.mo) in the
appropriate system directories and can be used by frontends. Currently
XSane supports these files, if you set LANG to e.g. de_DE.

To all backend authors:
Please, even if you don't want to provide a translation yourself, mark
strings that can be translated with "SANE_I18N" (see po/README for details).

Translations are always appreciated. You don't need to translate all
the well known options from saneopts.h, only those which are used in
your backend.

Currently German translations are available for epson, mustek,
mustek_usb, and umax.

Bye,
  Henning
