This depends on how you configure the kernel - but in your case: yes -
you seem to built it into the kernel.

Maybe the "-i" switch is what you might like to now about.
"-i, --ignore-case ignore case distinctions"

Your scanner doesn't seem to be connected. Do you have additional USB
ports that are not recognized? Is your scanner plugged into your USB
Port and also powered on?
