First of all, you need the specifications. Then someone with a scanner
like that will have to write a driver for it, so if someone can borrow
me one, I'll do it...

You can use this when negotiating with Canon. Try to contact them
(preferably by mail or fax, not email, since companies like them
usually take old-fashioned correspondence more seriously). State that,
on sane-devel, you are constantly hearing from this guy who
successfully wrote a driver for the competition's scanners after being
given the specifications by Nikon Europe.
