I have some logs from it and I also partly analysed those logs.
The protocol used to transfer data to and from the scanner
does not look very complicated and is also a bit similar to
the one used in the HP3300 for example. See

There is a simple test util that can read the scanner's
version string and show the LCD display messages, but
nothing more than that yet.
