That's fine. Those are exactly things that won't run on my
machine. GIMP is just way too slow for larger images (say, 1600 x
2500), try adjusting gamma interactively (plain old XV does it faster,
although it has it's own quirks). Yes, someday I will get faster
machine and more memory...
