[sane-devel] No access to an Vobis Highscreen HS 5c scanner

Hi,

I cannot use my scanner from Vobis/HighScreen featured by Linotype-Hell
signed as "HS 5c". No problem to bind in the AVA1505ae SCSI-ISA card with
modprobe. A cat /proc/scsi/scsi shows:

 Host: scsi2 Channel: 00 Id: 01 Lun: 00
     Vendor: LinoHelm Model: Ogfice ! ! ! ! ! Rev: V3.1
     Type: Scanner ANSI SCSI revision: 02

  LinoHelm and Ogfice are the original output and are no type-writer errors!

 a "sane-find-scanner" answer with:

 found SCSI scanner "LinoHelm Ogfice ! ! ! ! ! V3.1" at device /dev/scanner
 found SCSI scanner "LinoHelm Ogfice ! ! ! ! ! V3.1" at device /dev/sg4
 -->I did ln -s /dev/sg4 /dev/scanner before ...

 scanimage -L recognize no scanner at all

I use the SuSE 8.1 distribution and the sane 1.0.8 version from this 8.1.

I did an " export SANE_DEBUG_DLL=255 ; export SANE_DEBUG_UMAX=12 " and
afterwards a scanimage -Tv, scsidev -v , cat /proc/ioports,
cat /proc/interrupts , rescan-scsi-bus.sh and sg_map -x

Is it maybe a good idea to change the EPROM with the EPROM firmware of UMAX?!?

here are the results:
