The link to the package contents point to the same page. And the
specification is exactly the same (but the number and name). The only
difference I can see is the link to the FCC and EC conformity
declaration.

The hp page also shows these scanners: HP E-Scanner Photo Scanner
(C8492A) and HP Photo Scanner 1000 (C9900A). I have no idea about
compatibility of those.

I have never used vmware for that so I'm only guessing.
