Hi Karl, Florian and everyone on sane-devel,

I am in the middle of adding support for the Perfection 3170 to "Image 
Scan! for Linux".  I can't say anything about when it will be released, 
though.

FYI, the Perfection 1670 will not be added.  It requires an interpreter 
with a license that we can't afford :-(
