[sane-devel] Umax S12 scanner set up

We have an old Umax S12 scanner which connects to a SCSI port. It is
attached to an Advansys 32 bit SCSI card.
Earlier with Mandrake Linux 9.1, I was able to use this scanner. During
installation of the operating system, the scanner was auto detected and
configured.
However, I recently installed Mandrake Linux 9.2 on the same machine (a
clean install). The scanner was not detected during install or
afterwards by scannerdrake.
How should I go about configuring this scanner for use?
