[sane-devel] scanimage cannot see Umax Astra 2100S scanner.

Using debian sarge with kernel 2.4.21.

Software	sane 1.0.11-3
		xsane 0.92-1

The bios sees
 ID# 1: Advansys SCSI PCI Bus Host Adapter
 ID# 3: UMAX Astra 2100S v1.1

sane-find-scanner reports

I doubt that a /dll.conf file is valid in linux, is it? 

This has been ongoing for several days, the scanner works fine under windows
and if necessary windows can be installed on this machine for debugging.

Would someone suggest the correct DEBUG_ commands to generate useful logs,
I got bushed trying with insuffient knowledge.
