Hi Holger,

Please update your address book: sane-devel has moved, and the address
is now sane-devel@lists.alioth.debian.org. The old
sane-devel@mostang.com still works, but it may go away without notice.

If you have an entry for saned in inetd.conf, you won't be able to run
it from the command line because inetd will have bound the port
already.

If you want to test, you must remove the entry from inetd.conf then
ask inetd to reload its configuration and then you can test saned from
the command line.
