	Hello,

support the UMAX Astra 610P flatbed parallel port scanner has
been added to the umax_pp backend in SANE's CVS. It is a beta, and I
expect that bugs will be found when trying it on hardware different
than those I tested on.
In case of trouble, try to change parallel port settings in
BIOS. Valid modes to test are Bidirectionnal, EPP and ECP.

	Known bugs are:
	- poor quality shading calibration
	- 300x600 dpi works as 300x300
	- y start of scan area isn't correct

Hopefully, these are going to be fixed soon.

When reporting a bug, you may help me by sending debug logs by
doing in a shell:

export SANE_DEBUG_UMAX_PP=255
export SANE_DEBUG_UMAX_PP_LOW=255

then run xsane, scanimage or xscanimage in the same shell with:

xsane 2>debug.log

Only SPP mode has been implemented, so high res scans are slow.
EPP support may be added in the future.

Regards,
	Stef
