That's the penalty for users who don't read the docs and install
sane-frontends before sane-backends :-)

Fixed in CVS now.

The idea was to print the name of the cache filr of autoconf (usually
./config.cache). Recent autoconf versions don't use it and set the
variable to /dev/null.
