I had this all working in Fedora core 3, but do not seem to be able to
find the magic for Fedora core 4. I have an HP Officejet 7310xi all in
one unit. I'm able to print and copy from camera memory cards over the
network and using usb. Scanning is not working though. Platform is an
athelon 64 bit system with kernel version 2.6.12-1.1398_FC4.

Configuration checks:
hp-probe -bnet
       Device URI Model Name
 ------------------------------------------ ------------------------ ----------
hp:/net/Officejet_7300_series?ip=10.2.2.10 HP Officejet_7300_series pineneedle

  # No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make
  # sure that
  # you have loaded a SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.
  # Also you need support for SCSI Generic (sg) in your operating system.
  # If using Linux, try "modprobe sg".

found USB scanner (vendor=0x03f0, product=0x4211) at libusb:002:006

scanimage -L
No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).

I have added the follow:
- /etc/hotplug/usb/libsane.usermap
  # Hewlett-Packard|OfficeJet 7310xi
  libusbscanner 0x0003 0x03f0 0x4211 0x0000
    0x0000 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00
    0x00 0x00000000

- /etc/sane.d/hp.conf
  # HP Officejet 7310xi
  usb 0x03f0 0x4211
  device libusb:002:004

- /det/sane.d/dll.conf
  uncomment net line
  add hpaio line

- ls -l /dev/scanner-usb-:proc:bus:usb:002:006 -> /proc/bus/usb/002/006

If I use the hplip, 0.9.3, HP Device Manager tool box and try and access
the scanner I get a pop error dialog box with:
Failed to open device `hpaio:/net/Officejet_7300_series?ip=10.2.2.10'
Operation not supported.
