I used to get this (or something similar) with my Mustek. The lamp has
to warm up and this can take longer than the SCSI timeout. This
timeout was reduced at some time in the past, older versions of SANE
worked fine. The solution was to add a SANE_SCSICMD_TIMEOUT
environment variable so the user can choose the timeout period.
However the default is still shorter than it used to be so try setting
SANE_SCSICMD_TIMEOUT=300 before scanning.
