At least the gt68xx backend uses /usr/(local/)share/sane/gt68xx/ so
other backends could use
/usr/(local/)share/sane/backendname/... .

The corresponding directories are automatically creted on "make
install" if the backend name is in the backend/Makefile.in
FIRMWARE_DIRS variable.
