You don't need the command-line tool (scan 6.0) if you've installed
SANE.. they use exactly the same code.  It's occasionally handy for
debugging though :)

>From that output, there is absolutely no response from the scanner, so
the options are:

1. Your scanner could be broken (unlikely)
2. Remove any printers from the passthrough port on the back of the
   scanner.
3. Try twiddling the parport_pc kernel module settings (add a DMA
   argument, or if you already have one, try removing it)
4. Try twiddling the BIOS settings for your parallel port.

Hope one of those helps! (except the first one, I hope that isn't it..)
