Hello everybody,
Attempts to connect to the scanner via the network was not successful.

If I manage I am happy to provide test reports etc.

If that is not the right place to ask, please refer - otherwise I am
happy for any ideas.

The problem I have is:
sandmann:/etc/sane.d # SANE_DEBUG_NET=128 scanimage -L
[sanei_debug] Setting debug level of net to 128.
[net] sane_init: authorize = 0x804d560, version_code = 0xbff301d8
[net] sane_init: SANE net backend version 1.0.13 (AF-indep+IPv6) from
sane-backends 1.0.18
[net] sane_init: Client has little endian byte order
[net] sane_init: searching for config file
[net] sane_init: trying to add 192.168.0.2
[net] add_device: adding backend 192.168.0.2
[net] add_device: backend 192.168.0.2 added
[net] sane_init: done reading config
[net] sane_init: evaluating environment variable SANE_NET_HOSTS
[net] sane_init: done
[net] sane_get_devices: local_only = 0
[net] connect_dev: trying to connect to 192.168.0.2
[net] connect_dev: [0] failed to connect (Connection refused)
[net] connect_dev: [1] failed to connect (Connection refused)
[net] connect_dev: couldn't connect to host (see messages above)
[net] sane_get_devices: ignoring failure to connect to 192.168.0.2
[net] sane_get_devices: finished (0 devices)

No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).
[net] sane_exit: exiting
[net] sane_exit: closing dev 0x8054f68, ctl=-1
[net] sane_exit: finished.

also:
sandmann:/etc/sane.d # telnet 192.168.0.2 6566
Trying 192.168.0.2...
telnet: connect to address 192.168.0.2: Connection refused

Printing works, ping works, the web-server of the device works, there
is no firewall running on my machine - but scanning doesn't work.

This is what I have configured (this is all I know):

sandmann:/etc/sane.d # cat net.conf
# This is the net config file. Each line names a host to attach to.
# If you list "localhost" then your backends can be accessed either
# directly or through the net backend. Going through the net backend
# may be necessary to access devices that need special privileges.
# localhost
192.168.0.2

sandmann:/etc/sane.d # cat dll.conf
# enable the next line if you want to allow access through the network:
net
#abaton
#agfafocus
#apple
...

sandmann:/etc # cat services
...
# 6559-6565 Unassigned
sane-port 6566/tcp # SANE Control Port
sane-port 6566/udp # SANE Control Port
# 6567-6578 Unassigned
affiliate 6579/tcp # Affiliate
...

Thanks for any hint.

Best regards
             Micha
