Hi

I have an AVISION FB6080E scanner. This should be supported considering
this page:
http://www.exactcode.de/site/open_source/saneavision/devices/

This scanner was working with the help of René Rebe and and the SVN head
version of the Exactcode avision backends.

This was in December 2007. Currently, I have an Ubuntu Hardy and I have
lost these old binaries and the Exactcode's SVN is not online anymore:
http://svn.exactcode.de/sane-avision/trunk/backend
https://svn.exactcode.de/sane-avision/trunk/backend

For these reasons, I wanted to test the last sane-project code release,
with the thought that the Exactcode's avision code was maybe now integrated.

I have done like following.

kelson at camber:~/tmp$ tar -xvzf sane-backends-1.0.19.tar.gz 2> /dev/null
kelson at camber:~/tmp$ wget
ftp://ftp.sane-project.org/pub/sane/sane-backends-1.0.19/sane-backends-1.0.19.tar.gz
2> /dev/null
kelson at camber:~/tmp$ tar -xvzf sane-backends-1.0.19.tar.gz > /dev/null
kelson at camber:~/tmp$ cd sane-backends-1.0.19/
kelson at camber:~/tmp/sane-backends-1.0.19$ ./configure > /dev/null
configure: WARNING: Group uucp does not exist on this system.
configure: WARNING: Locking feature will be disabled.
kelson at camber:~/tmp/sane-backends-1.0.19$ make clean all > /dev/null 2>
/dev/null
kelson at camber:~/tmp/sane-backends-1.0.19$ sudo make install > /dev/null
2> /dev/null
[sudo] password for kelson:
kelson at camber:~/tmp/sane-backends-1.0.19$ whereis scanimage
scanimage: /usr/bin/scanimage /usr/local/bin/scanimage
/usr/share/man/man1/scanimage.1.gz /usr/share/man/man1/scanimage.1
kelson at camber:~/tmp/sane-backends-1.0.19$ export SANE_DEBUG_AVISION=7
kelson at camber:~/tmp/sane-backends-1.0.19$ /usr/local/bin/scanimage -l
5mm -t 5mm -x 15mm -y 15mm 2> scanner-name.log > scanner-name.png
kelson at camber:~/tmp/sane-backends-1.0.19$ file scanner-name.png
scanner-name.png: empty

As you can see, something goes wrong :(
The problem should IMHO not be really bad... because it has worked.

I hope someone will be able to help me with, as far as I know, the only
one "bookedge" scanner which works with Linux.

Regards

Emmanuel
