Hi Allan,

I installed the hp3900-series_0.12.tar.gz.

The steps followed were first I untar the binaries

1) tar zxvf hp3900-series_0.12.tar.gz2) ./INSTALL.sh3) 2 options were populated I selected SANE BACKEND 2nd option.

Then I was populated that select the distro.

As my OS is fedora 8.0 I selected 4th option listed, After that binaries were extraced & now a file with the name 3900.conf is present in /etc/sane.d/
Then finally I typed scanimage -L command again same message appears
NO scanner were identified. if you were expecting something different, check that the scanner is plugged in.

Thanks,
