yes- why not spend your time reverse engineering the protocol used by
these scanners, and make a truely free driver. Then users on other
platforms (ARM, PPC, etc) can use it too! The epjitsu backend already
talks to some of these 'medium level' epson machines, perhaps it could
be extended or cloned for a starting point...
