some scanners can detect this, but reporting it to the front-end is
difficult. when the paper runs out, it might be too late for the
front-end to 'adjust' the header of the file, since it might have
already printed it on stdout. There is a mechanism for handheld
scanners which uses the 'magic' length of -1, but that requires
front-end to buffer the entire image in ram before output. the fujitsu
backend does not support this mode, but i might accept a patch :)
