I've attached the 2 config.log and include/sane/config.h files, obtained
on 2 different systems:

- Ubuntu 8.04 hardy
- Mandriva 2007.1

On both of them, the USE_PTHREAD flag is not set after running
the ./configure statement with the --enable-pthread option.
